Buying guide
Choosing the right fifth wheel.
A fifth wheel rides over your truck’s rear axle for confident, sway-free towing and opens up tall ceilings, split-level living and true residential kitchens. They’re the choice for long seasons, full-timers and families who want space.

You’ll need the right truck bed
Fifth wheels require a pickup with a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch in the bed. Most need a three-quarter or one-ton truck — check pin weight against payload, not just tow rating.

Four-season matters here
Utah nights drop below freezing nine months a year. Enclosed, heated underbellies and thicker insulation (look for the Four-season badge) keep the plumbing happy from Bear Lake to the Uintas.

Plan for slide-outs and sites
Multiple slides create huge living space but need room to open. Measure your storage spot and favorite campsites before falling in love with a 42-footer.
